Little Bees Parent Tip of the Month
September Parent Tip: Building a Morning Routine
Prepare clothes, lunches, and daycare bags the night before. A predictable morning routine can make drop-off calmer for both children and parents.
1.Create Consistent Routines
Young children thrive when they know what to expect. Consistent morning, mealtime, bedtime, and daycare routines can help children feel secure and develop independence.
2. Read Together Every Day
Even 10–15 minutes of reading together can help build vocabulary, listening skills, imagination, and a lifelong love of books. Ask your child questions about the pictures and let them help tell the story.
3. Help Children Understand Their Feelings
Teach children that feelings are okay while helping them learn appropriate ways to express them. Try phrases such as, “I can see you’re frustrated. Let’s use our words.”
4. Encourage Independence
Give your little bee age-appropriate responsibilities such as putting away toys, carrying their backpack, choosing between two outfits, washing their hands, or helping set the table.
5. Practice Kindness & Gratitude
Help children develop strong character by modeling kindness, patience, forgiveness, sharing, and gratitude. Families can also make prayer, Bible stories, and conversations about God’s love part of their daily routine.
6. Protect Bedtime & Rest
A predictable bedtime routine can help children settle down and prepare for sleep. Try a calming routine that includes bathing, pajamas, a story, prayer, and bedtime at a consistent time
7. Partner With Your Child’s Teachers
Keep teachers informed about important changes at home, routines, developmental milestones, or concerns that may affect your child’s day. Consistency between home and daycare can make a big difference.
